School and Library Visits
Hi, teachers, educators, professors, librarians, and book lovers! I would LOVE to come to your school or library—either virtually or in-person—to chat with a class or meet with your students.
Please note that I am a mom to a toddler and I also work full-time, meaning my schedule can be limited and there may be certain times of the year during which I’m unavailable.
To get things started, please email Sara DiSalvo at sdisalvo@holidayhouse.com. But before you do, here’s some info to know.
Topics
I can speak about developing your craft and writing; getting started in the publishing industry; surviving (and thriving!) in the publishing industry as a marginalized author; ways to market yourself and your book; body positivity and body acceptance in YA literature; and race and the Latinx identity in YA literature.
In addition to publishing, I also can speak about social media and branding tips; social media management as a career; and how to curate social media to be a positive and healthy experience.
Types of Visits
I am open to virtual or in-person events. I am fully vaccinated, but I do have a small child at home, so I am trying to limit my face-to-face visits to districts and areas that have protections in place (such as mask mandates, vaccination mandates, the opportunity for outdoor events/presentations, etc.). However, virtual visits are a great opportunity to connect from anywhere and in any time zone!
That being said: I do a significant number of school visits throughout the year for free. I prioritize schools with little to no funding, who have a large BIPOC population, or for LGBTQ+ groups. Feel free to mention these things when you email.
If you are a Title 1 school, nonprofit, or other organization with a limited budget, please note this when you reach out, especially if you work with Latinx children.
What I need
Before reaching out, please consult my events schedule (left sidebar) to see if I am already booked.
Please state the desired date range, what type of visit you are looking for, the audiences, how many presentations you’d like me to do, and what the offered rate or honorarium is.
